A Terrafugia video posted to YouTube on July 20, 2015 has garnered more than one million views in just two weeks. It is easy to see why. The TF-X is Terrafugia’s “vision for the future of personal transportation.”
“The TF-X will be a four-seat, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) hybrid electric aircraft that makes flying easier and safer than ever before.”
Just as I watched this TF-X video, I happened across a photo essay titled, “1890-1968 Flying Cars“.
With every technological step forward, we come closer to a “flying car” reality. I just wish the finishing line would stop moving further out as well.
Is it April 1st?
Hi Bill S; Good humor – thank you for taking this “NON-CENT$” where it belongs – to the pre-toddler level – “breast feeding” anyone?
Anyone know how you get in and out of the dang thing?
Yo teletransport in. By the time this comes to the market teletransportation will be a common thing! LOL
My initial reaction is to think of the development costs, technical challenges and other complications in developing this sort of pie in the sky thing. But my second reaction is why not. Dream big. Bring money (not mine, though some silicone valley trillionaire may be interested).
What happened to the other flying car they were going to build and sell for about $194k? These guys are scammers.
Yep. Take deposits and then if it doesn’t work out its “sorry”. I wonder how it flies on one motor if it ever flies at all.
Leading candidate for the 2015 RIO Award. (For the most outlandish aircraft… designed to separate investors from their money. At which point the designer heads off to RIO.)
See? Told you so.
Yep. There’ll be pie in the sky, by and by…
That is a great concept, it looks awesome and has a very good idea on how to use the tehnology to its advantage and the safety of everyone involved, but if the Transition has taken this long, I wonder if the TF-X will ever make it to the market…. or if it will even be relevant by the time they have a prototype.
It seems the Transition has been left behind by other options like the amphib Icon A5, even when they are different categories, and by this new concept. I do not forsee a good future for Terrafugia; even though I hope that I am wrong.
