DEXTER, NY – The Watertown International Airport has opened its new Business Center.
Jefferson County Officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication July 24, at the 19,000-square-foot facility that serves as a Business Center and hangar for corporate users of the airport, houses airport administration, and serves as the FBO for the airport.
Jefferson County Officials dedicated the Airport’s Business Center to WASP Mary Eaton Cooper Cox.
Cox, a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) in World War II, died Dec. 21, 2009, and was posthumously granted the Congressional Gold Medal in 2010.
She was a Watertown and Clayton resident most of her life. After World War II, Cox worked for American Airlines in New York City briefly and returned to Watertown to work as a flight instructor at the Watertown Airport.
