Museum hosts quilt show

WINDSOR LOCKS, CONN. – The New England Air Museum is hosting its Fourth Annual “Flights & Fantasies” Quilt Show from Sept. 21-27.

The show will feature an array of more than 150 quilts to be displayed among the museum’s collection of more than 80 historic aircraft and dozens of related exhibits.

DSCF4994_stitch-F-2The one-week-only event is free to visitors with paid museum admission. Although it is not a juried show, there will be a viewer’s choice winner.

Mary Wilson Kerr will present lectures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and provide tours of her quilts; Marie Bostwick will present a lecture on Saturday; and Jackie Kunkel will present a trunk show Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be vendors and demos on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Food vendors will be on site Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

DSC_0167A queen-sized Fire Island Hosta quilt, design by Judy Niemeyer, will be raffled to support the Museum. The quilt is on display at the museum and tickets can be purchased through the drawing on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The New England Air Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week and is located in Windsor Locks, Conn., adjacent to Bradley International Airport.
