Wall of Honor gives pilots a reason to go flying

By Ben Sclair · September 7, 2015 ·

“We are trying to give pilots a reason to go flying,” said Rainier Flight Service founder Gordon Alvord. “This goes beyond the $100 hamburger or a flight lesson.”

Using custom built flight scheduling software, the system takes advantage of the rise of social media  to encourage pilots to earn profile badges on their Wall of Honor.

To date, a Rainier Flight Service pilot can earn one (and hopefully more) of 56 badges. While badges can be earned for earning a new certificate or rating, they go far beyond to encourage fun and fulfillment.

Examples include spin training, flying to Oshkosh, joining the Civil Air Patrol, completing an Angel Flight mission, landings at different airports, finding fire lookouts, cross country flights, mountain flying, and more.
