Rebecca Duggan sent in these photos of her favorite airpark, Sugar Springs (5M6).
Sugar Springs Airpark is a privately owned public-use airpark located in mid-Michigan, she explains, noting it has a 3,500-foot grass runway that is very well maintained.
“It’s a wonderful community with so many amenities,” she said. “It has two large recreational lakes with beach clubs, bath houses, and picnic areas. There is a new recreation building that has an indoor swimming pool, banquet facility, and fitness center. Property owners can enjoy some friendly competition on the 18-hole championship golf course or on tennis, bocci ball and pickle ball courts.”
The airpark hosts an annual fly-in the third Saturday of August. Other times during the flying season, pilots can land at the airpark, call for a ride (numbers posted on the board at the approach end of runway 9, and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Hearth restaurant, which is part of the Sugar Springs association, she noted.
