By General Aviation News Staff · October 16, 2015 ·

MT-Propeller has received an FAA STC for the next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller on the Piper PA-30, PA-39 Twin Comanche.

This installation has already received STCs from EASA and Transport Canada.

According to MT-Propeller President Gerd Muehlbauer, the installation features:

  • Enhanced takeoff distance by approximately 15%;
  • Enhanced single engine climb performance by approximately 10%;
  • Enhanced cruise performance by 2 to 3 kts; and
  • Reduced noise and cabin vibration.

Due to the smaller diameter, the MT-Propeller for the Piper PA-30/39 has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion, he added.
