Video: German students take flight

Several students from Stuttgart, Germany, recently visited Arlington High School in Arlington, Wash. During their visit to the area, the students made their way out to the Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO), where a group of pilots gave the students free rides in general aviation aircraft.

According to David Ryan, airport manager, these were not Young Eagles flights because the kids were from Germany and they couldn’t get all the paperwork completed for an official Young Eagles flight. However, organizers did give the kids information on becoming a Young Eagle to all the students.

Each of the 18 students got a 20-minute flight, including the chance to fly the plane.
A group of 6 pilots gave them a free airplane ride. Weather was not good, but legal and safe. Simple 20 minute flights and each student flew the plane.
