National Naval Aviation Museum earns national recognition

By General Aviation News Staff · December 23, 2015 ·

PENSACOLA, Florida — The world’s largest naval aviation museum has once again earned national recognition. The National Naval Aviation Museum (NNAM), located aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station, was ranked a “Top 20 Museum in the USA” by Yelp in December, confirming its place among the best museums in the country to visit.

Yelp is an American multinational corporation founded in 2004 that hosts and markets Yelp.com, which provides data about local businesses, including health inspection scores, and publishes crowd-sourced reviews.

To create their list, Yelp ranked U.S. businesses categorized as museums based on each museum’s number of reviews and overall star rating.

National Museum of Naval Aviation“The museum is honored to be recognized by Yelp,” said Lt. Gen. Duane D. Thiessen, president and CEO of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. “Every day, the staff and volunteers here strive to make each visitor’s experience one that is personal, educational and enjoyable. We do this for them, so when they tell us they enjoyed it, we are delighted.”

Military museums proved particularly popular with visitors this year, claiming five of the top 20 spots on Yelp’s rankings.

“If you have already been here, come again. We are always adding new aircraft, features and exhibits,” furthered Thiessen. “If you have never seen our Naval Aviation Museum, stop by. You will not be disappointed.”

Went there once but did not see any credit to those who worked their butts off to keep those planes in the air. Very disappointed”

I’ve been there a couple of times and absolutely loved it. If you don’t go, you will be missing a real treat.
