Our friends at FunPlacesToFly.com recently posted a video about their good friend, Bob Rogers, who has the best of both worlds: An experimental aircraft for pure fun and a general aviation aircraft for long trips and comfort. See his Mustang II and his 1966 V-35 Beechcraft Bonanza in this video:

I built a Lancair 235 and first flew it in Sept. ’89. I still have it. I can still afford to fly it. With about 1100 hours on it I feel truely blessed to have it. People ask why I haven’t built something :NEW. FASTER BIGGER whatever. I love flying, and with the Lancair I can go long distances and not break the bank. So I take good care of it and it of me. One is enough, ones all I can afford. Two planes or more is great for some and more power to them. I’m satisfied with one, thankful for one!?
And the problem is ?
I barely afford one airplane, but a pair of brothers I know share 4 (at last count),
and a couple of friends who are neighbors who share 4 (at last count).
I’m not jealous, they earned what they have, and they share.
I won’t mention their names in case their wives read this.
IN case their wives read this, and want to fly the airplanes too.
Works much better if some of the airplanes are in her name, she comes out and flies Young Eagles and helps wash them
I have 53 ! All make from Beer & Pop Cans…. BCAir.com
Of course this assumes one can afford to have and maintain two airplanes.
Still working on that plan – got my Powerball ticket for tomorrow night.
In the meantime I guess I’ll just have to continue renting our flight school’s C-172 or (once I get qualified in it ) the C-182 until I get extremely lucky (with Powerball or by some other means like a kindly donation from an extremely wealthy individual. I promise I’ll use the airplane for good – like USCG Aux missions, etc…)
(Ya, right…)
why stop with two airplanes?
