Picture of the day: A high-flying Symphony

By General Aviation News Staff · February 21, 2016 ·

Aviation Photojournalist Greg Davis sent in these photos from a recent photo shoot with Cheryl Phillips of Queenstown, Maryland, in her Symphony in-flight over Delaware and Maryland on Nov. 15, 2015. The aircraft, serial #7, is being flown by owner Phillips and James Meadows (safety pilot). The first photo is over the famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge, he notes.

    All,

Thank you. I believe there were only about 60 total manufactured. Some still in Germany which is where OMF-100-160 originally was designed. The aircraft is a certified version of the Glastar. The Canadians later bought the design rights but went out of business. About 25 of these aircraft in the U.S. I am based at ESN. Many think it’s light sport, but max take off is 2150. Has a Lycoming 320 D2A.

Curious, how many Symphony aircraft were sold (or are flying) the the US? And where is this pretty Symphony based?

Agreed. Beautiful colors, and nice to see Chesapeake Bay again. Keep flying and photographing.
