Researcher looking for pilots

By General Aviation News Staff · April 14, 2016 ·

Are you or have you been a pilot, remotely piloted aircraft pilot or air traffic controller? Do you have an interest in how RPAs are integrated into the National Airspace?

If so, you can take a survey that forms part of a masters research project to see if there are differences in the attitudes of pilots, RPA pilots, and air traffic controllers when it comes to the integration of RPAs into the national airspace.

The survey will take around 20 minutes to complete and can be saved at any stage. Responses are anonymous.

Click here to take the survey.

From the perspective of a GA pilot, it seemed like a reasonable survey. Basically asks your opinion on how large and small UAS might be integrated into the National Air Space, what requirements/limits you might consider, etc.

      But which should I choose:
      GA
      Military
      Airline
      Drone
I see the big problem as over lap od air space.
Should our airspace be restricted to 500′ AGL, and drone get 400′ and below?
What about Ag flying (I did that too), helicopters, fire fighters and military low levels at 200′.
A bird almost got me low level at 420K indicated!
I have little confidence they will work solve this without some note worthy accidents.

The survey states, “PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THE QUESTIONS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF YOUR PREDOMINANT ROLE, GIVING YOUR PERSONAL OPINIONS RATHER THAT WHAT YOU EXPECT OR KNOW THE POLICIES TO BE.”, and the questions read, “Which of the following best describes your role?” (ATC, Manned pilot, UAS pilot) , and “Which of the following is the best description of your predominant role as an aircraft pilot?” (GA, Military, Commercial).

I picked the one that I most identify with and answered the questions from that perspective. If you identify with more than one, just pick one and answer the questions from that perspective. Seems pretty straightforward.

The rest of the questions in the survey didn’t seem to matter which of the above that you pick. In other words I think everyone gets the same questions no matter which you identify with, and in theory your opinion should be the same regardless… 🙂

Additionally, there is little data secured identifying you, so repeat the survey and answer from other perspectives.

Tried to take this survey, but it is too restrictive,
You may not be a private, military, commercial pilot that as flown drones and real airplanes!
    Must be an agenda!
