WAI receives $10,000 grant

By General Aviation News Staff · August 30, 2016 ·

Women in Aviation International recently received a $10,000 grant from the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) Foundation, which funds educational programs that advance commercial aviation. This is the second year that WAI has received an ISTAT grant.

The grant will be used to expand the distribution of Aviation for Girls magazine, an important resource for WAI’s international Girls in Aviation Day, which is slated for Saturday, Sept. 24.

Girls 1

That day, WAI chapters around the world will provide learning opportunities and conduct hands-on aviation activities to introduce girls, ages 8 to 16, to the aviation lifestyle as well as to the career possibilities in aviation and aerospace.

“Aviation for Girls showcases women who serve as role models for girls looking to make a career choice,” says WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian. “The magazine will be distributed to Girls in Aviation Day participants and provide them with information on scholarships and training, as well as inspirational material to encourage girls to be their best selves. We are grateful to ISTAT for its continuing generosity.”
