Video: Sporty’s Flying with ForeFlight updated for ForeFlight 8

By General Aviation News Staff · September 30, 2016 ·

Sporty’s Flying with ForeFlight video course has been updated to reflect changes effective with ForeFlight 8.

Topics covered in the new Flying with ForeFlight include weather forecast discussions; a new aeronautical map layer; the differences in the composite vs. lowest tilt radar imagery; and a new segment on how to use the ForeFlight logbook.

The course explains how to decipher the new PIREP symbols, how to filter the type of AIRMETs shown on the maps, and how to retrieve a graphical weather briefing in the app from flight service.

“We have to move fast to keep up with the ever-changing high tech world of today’s GA pilot,” says Sporty’s Academy President Eric Radtke. “Using ForeFlight is now a community standard and we want pilots to have the best, most current information on maximizing the ForeFlight experience.”

Unique to the iOS app, Flying with ForeFlight now streams on demand. That feature reduces the file size of the app so that users can then save individual sections for offline viewing if desired.

Flying with ForeFlight is available as an online course (for Windows, Mac and tablets) or as a dedicated iPhone/iPad app, for $29.99.
