First-ever Red Bull Air Race held in Indy

More than 62,000 fans witnessed the Indianapolis Motor Speedway transform into an airfield as Red Bull Air Race touched down at the iconic speedway for the first time.

German Pilot Matthais Dolderer won the debut Indy race, clinching his first World Championship in the process.

Englishman and 2014 World Champion Nigel Lamb finished second, and Canadian Pete McLeod earned the third spot on the coveted podium.

In the Challenger Class race earlier on Sunday, Luke Czepiela took the first win of his Red Bull Air Race career.

To relive the action at IMS, fans can watch a race broadcast on Sunday, Oct. 9 on FS1 at 8:30 p.m. EST or catch the race on demand on RBTV starting at 10:30 p.m. EST.

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship will next head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 15-16 for its season finale, where Dolderer will officially be crowned as champion.
