Picture of the day: A favorite Bob Hoover photo

By General Aviation News Staff · October 26, 2016 ·

Ace photographer Star Novak, a frequent contributor of photos to General Aviation News, sent in this photo after she heard the news about Bob Hoover.

“Here’s one of my favorites from a couple of years ago. What a true class act— he will be deeply missed by all of us touched by aviation, but oh, what a tremedous legacy he’s left!” she noted in an email.

bob-hoover“Bob Hoover a couple of years ago getting ready to travel along the flightline at EAA AirVenture. I feel so fortunate to have seen him fly the legendary “iced tea routine,” and the Ol’ Yeller P-51 routine many years ago. We are forever thankful for his legacy to aviation. RIP sir — blue skies and tailwinds to the greatest stick and rudder pilot ever.”
