FMA President John Zapp expects to promote the FMA Solo Scholarship, which gives high school juniors and seniors a chance to go from the ground to flying solo.

“We are expecting 150-plus high school ROTC in addition to Civil Air Patrol cadets to attend Thursday’s special performance and presentation featuring 2015 FMA Solo scholarship winner, Drew Medina,” Zapp said.

Drew is now a freshman at the University of Florida in Gainesville as an aerospace engineering student.

The first DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase will host 98 exhibitors of aircraft, engines, avionics, headsets, tools, tires, pilot gear, and more. There will be daily demo flights, manufacturers’ showcase flights, educational workshops and forums, homebuilts on display, and more.
