Activist says Korea beat the Wright brothers

By General Aviation News Staff · November 14, 2016 ·

A Korean activist claims that a military officer built an airplane a full 300 years before the Wright brothers, although none of the ancient plane or its design remains. “Korea is the origin of the flying aircraft. We should perfectly restore the plane to get recognition of it worldwide,” Kim Dong-min, chairman of the Jinju Bicha Restoration Commitee, was quoted in a story from the Yonhap News Agency. See the full story here, along with a photo of a model of the ancient aircraft.

The Wright Bros are credited with the development of a successful powered aircraft and the Koreans supposed design is at best a simple glider so no, they did not beat them. Kites were used for centuries and some even lifted people for military observation but that does not count as a successful aircraft nor does this pathetic little supposed glider. Just a lot of boast from someone who has no idea what they are trying ti claim and no proof of what they claim even existed. Why it was even dignified with coverage, maybe just to generate a few laughs.

Let’s see…….no plane, or design, remains, but they want to ‘restore’ ‘it’?!
