Video on avoiding traffic pattern stalls released

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Air Safety Institute (ASI) recently released a video on preventing stalls in the traffic pattern.

Margins of Safety: Avoiding Traffic Pattern Stalls looks at the various complexities of flying in the pattern,  as well as the importance of avoiding distractions and focusing on stick and rudder skills.

“Pilots often practice stalls, but real-world situations are often very different from training, especially at low altitude,” said ASI Senior Vice President George Perry. “This video introduces the ‘Red Zone’ concept as a new way to think about low altitude maneuvering. It will also help pilots understand some of the factors that contribute to stalls in the pattern and learn how to avoid them.”
