Hayward Air Rally offers EAA Air Academy scholarships

By General Aviation News Staff · December 1, 2016 ·

The Hayward Air Rally, the longest continually-held proficiency flying event in North America, is funding scholarships for students ages 16-18 for the Experimental Aircraft Association‘s (EAA) Air Academy’s summer 2017 program.

2017-hayward-air-rally-logoThe scholarships will cover the costs of camp tuition and round trip commercial air transportation. The dates for the Advanced Air Academy are July 28 – Aug. 5, 2017.

Scholarship application materials can be downloaded from the Hayward Air Rally website.

A completed written application, including essay and references, must be received by the Hayward Air Rally by Feb. 1, 2017.

Selection of the winning candidates will be based on the evaluation of application materials and appropriate follow-up by Hayward Air Rally volunteers. The selection of the scholarship winners will be made by March 1, 2017.

Originally conceived by the City of Hayward’s mayor in 1964, the Hayward Air Rally’s primary charter is to enhance general aviation safety by encouraging pilots to stay proficient in basic flight and fuel management techniques. The next Hayward Air Rally will be held June 22 – June 25 2017. The ultimate destination will be the Reno Stead Airport in Reno, Nevada.
