Mecham Air Center breaks ground at PDX

By General Aviation News Staff · December 7, 2016 ·

PORTLAND, Ore. — Gregg Mecham, a Northwest private developer, has begun construction of Mecham Air Center (MAC) at Portland International Airport (PDX).

MAC is a 111,000-square-foot facility with 96,000 square feet of executive corporate hangars and 15,000 square feet of office space located next to the airport’s north runway. The complex adjoins an FBO.

MAC is now preleasing with an expected completion date in the fourth quarter of 2017. Centrex Construction, Inc. is the general contractor.

Mr. Mecham stated that he felt PDX was an ideal location for this much needed corporate hangar space.

“We see a need for dedicated executive hangars for companies with one or more aircraft,” Mecham said. “They may be corporations, fractional aircraft management companies, or MRO’. There is just no similar space available on the west coast at an international airport, whether in the Seattle or California markets, and PDX is right in the middle, making it a short hop north or south. And Oregon is a tax free state — a huge tax advantage.”
