Ed Lachendro submitted this photo (which can also be seen in the Dec. 7, 2017, print issue of General Aviation News as part of The Year in Pictures). He reports: “The very rare (and only remaining) 1932 Waco IBA takes to the skies for the first time after an extended hiatus.”

Wow nice to see this plane again. My father owned and restored this plane after the war,
He had a lot of stories about the plane. and if I remember correctly they built three of these and Dad owned Two. one he used for parts. still have an old movie of him flying it in the fifties, He sold it before I was born always wished I could of flown in it.
I had a chance to sit in that airplane when it was based at SBP! The owner (Barry?) was generous enough to let me crawl around it. In my opinion one of the most beautiful Wacos. Funny, I asked him how he stayed current for the Wacos and he pointed to the Cessna 185 in the hangar!
