See thousands of birds take flight at annual Migratory Bird Fly-In

By General Aviation News Staff · February 14, 2020 ·

Canada geese, snow geese, trumpeter swans, pelicans, and ducks numbering in the thousands make up one of North America’s most spectacular migrations. And you can be there to see it at the third annual Migratory Bird Fly-In and Photo Shoot, March 7, 2020, at Havana Regional Airport (9I0) in Illinois.

Snow Geese

Pilots are encourage to arrive at Havana Regional Airport (9I0) by 9 a.m. Early arrivals will be treated to a pancake and sausage breakfast.

Pilots will be transported to the Emiquon Wildlife Refuge where they will see and photograph these birds. A biologist guide will explain the ecosystem that supports the birds, their habits, and migratory patterns.

Then enjoy a quick tour of Dickson Mound Museum, lunch at the Big Horse Winery, and return to the airport for your flight home.

$50 covers transportation and lunch.

Organizers offer these tips: Weather and birds are unpredictable. Dress appropriately and be prepared.

When landing or taking off at this fly-in, turn on all lights and strobes.

100LL is available on the field, they add.
