Gord McNulty submitted the following photo and note: “A CF-104D Starfighter is once again standing proudly as the ‘gate guardian’ of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at Hamilton, Ontario. The dual-seat Starfighter was remounted in November after extensive refurbishing at the museum. It originally arrived at the CWHM in 1995 on long-term loan from the Department of National Defence. In 2008, ownership was transferred to the CWHM.”

Canadair, based in Montreal, built the CF-104 under license from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation to replace the Sabre 6s flown by Royal Canadian Air Force units with NATO forces in Europe. The first 200 were single-seat strike-reconnaissance versions, together with 16 two-seat D models.
The markings on the museum’s impressive static aircraft are the same as when the Starfighter entered service with the RCAF in 1962, Gord adds.

Beautiful aircraft and what a wonderful and fantastic museum! I have visited twice and looking forward to going again. Well worth the trip to Hamilton!
