Alpha Aviation introduces Beechcraft, Cessna shoulder harness upgrades

By General Aviation News Staff · March 27, 2020 ·

Alpha Aviation recently introduced three new shoulder harnesses: One for the Beechcraft Bonanza, Baron and Debonair; one for Cessna 172s; and one for Cessna 150s.

Bonanza, Baron and Debonair 3-point diagonal shoulder harness

A recent FAA approval has been granted that permits TSO-C114 Inertial Reel restraint assemblies to be installed at the left window post and right door frame locations, greatly reducing installation time and expense, according to company officials.

Previously, Inertial Reel restraints were restricted to the sidewall installation behind the pilot and co-pilot seats, with the webbing flowing up through a D-ring on the left window post and right door post.

The new offering, Beech STC 3RS-114FS/Inertial, is available in kit form and includes the pilot and co-pilot Inertial Reel restraints. Estimated installation time for this kit is between six to eight hours; this assumes the work area has been prepped.

The kit is available for $1,329 for the two front seats, and is stocked in Black, Cruiser Grey, and Fawn (Tan).

Cessna 172L through 172Q, 172RG Rear Seat Shoulder Harness Upgrade

This upgrade is applicable to Cessna 100 series aircraft models 1971 172L through 1985 172Q (SN 17259224 – 17276515), and model 172RG aircraft that are not equipped with 3-point diagonal rear shoulder harnesses.

These aircraft models are factory equipped with nut plates mounted aft and outboard of each rear seat that will allow for the installation of shoulder harnesses. This installation will require a log-book entry signed by an appropriately rated mechanic, according to company officials.

The restraints are available in kit form and include one Fixed Strap or one Inertial Reel Equipped assembly, attaching hardware, and instructions. Per seat pricing is $454 for Fixed Strap and $574 for Inertial Reel Equipped.

Cessna 150, 150A through 150K, Dual Over the Shoulder Harness Upgrade

This upgrade is applicable to Cessna 150 and 150A through K aircraft (SN 17001 – 15072003) that are not equipped with shoulder harnesses. These aircraft models are factory equipped with rear spar nut plates directly aft of each pilot position that will allow for the installation of a dual over the shoulder harness. This installation will require a log-book entry signed by an appropriately rated mechanic.

The restraints are available in kit form and include one Fixed Strap Dual Over the Shoulder restraint assembly, attaching hardware and instructions. Per seat pricing is $514.

Alpha Aviation furnishes AmSafe Shoulder Harness Restraint Assemblies meeting TSO-C114, the most current standard. This restraint assembly is manufactured with polyester webbing carrying a 3,000 pound strength rating vs. the 1,500 pound rating of some older TSO-c22 belts.
