    Yes it’s open, smart thing to do if you have someone in that seat. If you crash it gives you a quicker way to evacuate a damaged or burning airplane! Sometimes those few extra seconds can be the difference between life and death.

      It’s what you do when you’re forced to land off-airport. Nobody does that on a normal landing.

      Good thinking. In fact the airlines should get with the program and start cracking the door open on every final approach. That would get some much-needed fresh air in the cabin a little earlier too. A win-win!

    Must of been a very hot day; I usually wait until I’ve landed to open the door.
