Picture of the Day: VP at Oshkosh

By General Aviation News Staff · July 20, 2020 ·

Jim Roberts submitted this photo and note: “While cruising my flight planning app July 17, 2020, and longingly looking toward Oshkosh, I discovered Vice Presidential TFRs over RIPON and Oshkosh. Could it be the White House failed to get the word on the AirVenture cancellation? Just for a moment, close your eyes, assume your best chair-flying posture, and imagine yourself on the Fisk arrival, monitoring approach control, and overhearing this transmission: “Blue and white low wing over Fisk, rock your wings…NICE ROCK! Follow the East West road to Runway 36 Left, and monitor Tower on 126.6. Welcome to Oshkosh!” Oh well, July 26, 2021 gets closer every day.”

I’m sure the White House is well aware that the promoters cancelled Oshkosh, not the State or Federal Government.. What does that have to do with them going to those places? Nothing…

“Oh well, July 26, 2021 gets closer every day.”

It’s unlikely the convention will be held next year. Dispatching this virus has not been handled well and I’ll bet it will be 2 to 3 years before events like Oshkosh happen again.
