Airshow memories

By General Aviation News Staff · July 23, 2020 ·

By Robert Talarczyk

Many of the airshows we wanted to attend didn’t happen this year, thanks to the COVID-19 restrictions. But that doesn’t mean we can’t fantasize about what could have been — or revisit memories from past shows.

One of the great things about digital photography is that each image freezes a particular moment in time. And while these images are from past airshows, take a moment to enjoy them while looking forward to the return of all the airshow fun next year.

“Godspeed,” a museum quality FG-1D Corsair, doing a low pass at the Air Festival at New Garden Field in Pennsylvana. Pilot: Charles Lynch.
A Waco YMF-5 makes a morning departure, a great way to start the day at the Warbirds Over The Beach Air Show at the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, Virginia.
The P-51 “Tiger’s Revenge” is one fine lady that looks good at any angle. Photographed at New Garden Field in Pennsylvania. Pilot: Mark Murphy.
Scott Frances taxis out to do what he does best: A great aerobatic performances in his 300-mph MSX. Keeping up with him is tough work for imagery at Lancaster Airport in Pennsylvania.
The Sopwith Pup “Mildred” “under attack” during an airshow at the Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel, Pennsylvania.
“Catalina Caper,” The Military Aviation Museum’s beautiful Consolidated PBY-5A on patrol during the World War II Weekend in Reading, Pennsylvania.
