Jim Roberts submitted this photo and note: “The Boneyard. Many airports have one…a repository of abandoned airframes. What a shame their owners didn’t sell or donate them before these once-loved aircraft reached the point of no return. But sometimes a forlorn ship finds a new home. An A&P friend of mine acquired a Grumman American Yankee for $4,000 in storage fees to the airport, plus $2,000 to the previous owner’s estate. It came with a low-time 150-hp Lycoming O-320, and after much sweat equity, it’s become the family flyer for himself, his son, and granddaughter.”
