Diamond relaunches DA20 with new instrument panel

By General Aviation News Staff · October 1, 2020 ·

The high demand for single engine training aircraft has led to the return to production of the Diamond DA20-C1, according to Diamond Aircraft Industries officials.

The DA20-C1 is powered by a 125-hp Continental IO-240 engine and equipped with new Garmin G500TXi avionics.

“We are excited to re-introduce the brand new DA20-C1,” says Scott McFadzean, CEO of Diamond Aircraft Industries. “Our innovative DNA is of course incorporated into the new aircraft, which showcases the latest Garmin avionics.”

The DA20 was originally introduced in 1992 and exists in two variants: It is certified as a utility category aircraft and is used for primary training with the ability to do spin training, according to company officials. More than 1,000 DA20s are already operating worldwide, which have logged nearly 7 million flight hours, officials add.

The first new 2020 DA20-C1s were delivered in August 2020. The company is now taking orders for delivery in 2021.
