With all the craziness going on in the world right now, we could all use an uplifting story.
And today’s is brought to you by Terry Hayes, a pilot for Backcountry Flying Experience in Montana.
“It sure is nice to work for such a great company and boss. We had the pleasure this past week of taking terminally ill children and their families up for a seaplane tour around the Flathead Valley,” she begins.
“Our boss, Peter Gross of Backcountry Flying Experience, donated his plane and pilots for a week of flying these children and families,” she continued.
She noted that for most of the children this was their first airplane flight.
“What a thrill that it was in a seaplane!” she says.

“It was a privilege to be a part of bringing a little joy and happiness to these kids. We had a perfect week — minus a windy day — of flying, with bright blue skies and calm waters. I’m sure it will be a special memory for each family. I know it was for us!”
The flights were coordinated through HopeKids, which provides ongoing events and activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other life-threatening medical condition. Their motto says it all: “Hope is a powerful medicine.”

Families traveled from all over the United States to attend a week-long event at The Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork, Montana, and a floatplane tour was one of the special events the families could take advantage of, Terry notes.
