KTDO facelift complete

By General Aviation News Staff · October 13, 2020 ·

A $3.2 million taxiway and runway repainting project has been completed at Ed Carlson Memorial Field-South Lewis County Airport (KTDO) in Toledo, Washington.

The project, which started during the first week of May 2020, and was completed Aug. 18, has been a “major facelift” for KTDO, according to John Roe, Lewis County Airport System Manager.

The “old and crumbling taxiway” was in need of replacement for many years, he added.

“The new taxiway averages 25 feet wide, and has over 138 new blue taxiway lights along its edge,” he reported. “The runway was repainted, and the new numbers and centerline can now be seen for the first time in a long number of years.”

Funding for the project was provided by grants from the FAA for 90% of the construction costs, with the Washington State Department of Transportation-Aviation Division picking up 5% of the cost. Lewis County, the airport owner, picked up the final 5% of the funding, Roe said.
