Hydraulics International receives 2020 President’s “E” Award

By General Aviation News Staff · October 29, 2020 ·

CHATSWORTH, California — Hydraulics International, Inc. (HII) has received the 2020 President’s “E” Award for demonstrating a sustained increase in export sales over a four-year period.

Record years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in American exports are significant factors in selecting the overall winners of the award, according to officials.

The President’s “E” Award was created in 1961 by Executive Order of the President and is the highest recognition a U.S. entity can receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports. Winners hail from 19 states, and of this year’s 39 honorees, 31 are small and medium-sized businesses, while 24 firms are manufacturers. In 2019, U.S. exports reached $2.53 trillion, with goods exports at $1.65 trillion and services exports at their highest level yet at $875.83 billion.

“HII is proud to receive the 2020 “E” Award which is a testament to our leading position in aviation ground support equipment and sustained success in serving our international customers,” said Bahman Seifollahi, President of HII. “We would not achieve the significant growth in export without the support of our engineering and sales teams, our vertically-integrated manufacturing base, and our long-term partnership with the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service office network. On behalf of HII, I want to commend all of our employees for their efforts to perform for our customers.”

HII began to scale up its export efforts in 2012 with the establishment of an office in Singapore to cover the Asia Pacific region. HII has since been exporting to over 25 countries, supporting governments, aircraft OEMs, airlines, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul stations globally. As a result, international sales have grown in double digits for consecutive years, company officials report.

HII designs and manufactures aviation ground support equipment, including aircraft hydraulic system test stands, component test benches, ammunition loading systems, shipboard aircraft handlers, cabin pressure test equipment, high purity nitrogen generator, high pressure gas and liquid pumps, and flowmeters.
