Geoff Pritchard submitted this photo and note: “With the cooler weather approaching here in southern British Columbia, Oct. 10, 2020, was the final flight for the year in my 1930 Fleet Model 2.”

Those of us in CA can fly all year, since it’s rarely ‘cold’ in most of the state….but it does rain sometimes.
[ but usually not enough for most folks ].
Flying in the winter in open cockpit airplanes is not fun. How those early airmail pilots did that was a miracle. Having flown Stearmans and Buckers in the cold, I prefer a nice 70 to 80 degree day thank you. But the view is better than looking through a indoor windshield!
I also own a Fleet, based in Oregon South of Portland. My lower limit is 50F and even then I only fly about a half hour.
Certainly does give you an appreciation of the early aviators, especially WW1 and the Airmail pilots.
Hi Dale,
This is Geoff Pritchard, the Fleet guy in the photo. What model Fleet do you fly?. Always good to expand the network of Fleet owners. Such a great airplane!
Cheers…..Geoff
Geoff,
N8618, model 1 (data plate says Husky Junior) sn# 30 with a Warner SS50A (145hp). Older restoration and shows it, not as pretty as yours!
Always wanted a Fleet from the time I was in grade school…
And a fine airplane it is. I had the pleasure of occupying the front seat for a couple of trips.
Also had a hand in refurbishing it: I was responsible for holding the plumb bob as Geoff set up the wings. (;>0)
