Virginia Department of Aviation offers scholarships and grants

By General Aviation News Staff · November 16, 2020 ·

The Virginia Department of Aviation is offering three types of student scholarships and one teachers’ grant program for this school year.

Through the Teachers Grant Program, educators for grades K-12 are eligible to apply for a grant to implement an aviation lesson plan for their class. Teachers in any discipline may apply, as long as the lesson involves aviation, according to state officials.

The Virginia Department of Aviation offers the Willard G. Plentl Sr.  Aviation Scholarship Program for a Virginia high school senior planning an aviation career. Deadline to apply is March 12, 2021.

The department also administers two Virginia Airport Operators Council (VAOC) scholarships: The John R. Lillard Scholarship and the Kenneth R. Scott Scholarship. Deadline to apply is March 5, 2021.
