Kodiak, plus off-road vehicle, packaged for the ultimate adventure seeker

By General Aviation News Staff · December 11, 2020 ·

Himalaya, builders of a modernized rendition of the Land Rover Defender, has partnered with Kodiak to create a special-edition package, featuring a Kodiak 100 Series II plane outfitted with customized badging and a distinctive livery, an off-road ready Himalaya Defender, and a customized trip to the Himalaya Experience Center in Alpine, Wyoming.

Price: $3 million.

“When we first built this Experience Center, our goal was to emphasize exactly what the Himalaya brand is all about, which is the desire to seek out adventure. In partnering with a legendary aircraft brand like Kodiak, we’ve established another element that sets us apart,” said Himalaya President Greg Shondel. “Working with an iconic brand such as Kodiak further exemplifies our commitment to offering the best for our guests who seek an unmatched adventure experience.”

The team at Kodiak has developed a limited number of K100, Series II planes with customized Himalaya branding, company officials note.

Himalaya will provide a customized Defender 110 in the package deal. Built for off-roading and outfitted with a 300tdi engine and manual transmission, these vehicles remain true to the Defender’s storied heritage.

“This partnership is an exciting opportunity for Kodiak Aircraft Company to join forces with a company that shares our passion for outdoor exploration and adventure,” comments Kodiak’s Chief Demo Pilot and Sales Director Mark Brown. “Combining the elements of air travel with off-road driving was a natural fit when putting this package together. Interested buyers will not only be acquiring an aircraft that features the most advanced technology, but also an elite driving machine suited for any terrain. It’s an unprecedented bundle that offers endless possibilities for any adventure seekers.”

Opened in the winter of 2020, the Himalaya Experience Center offers a variety of backcountry experiences. Himalaya built five customized snowmobiles and snow bikes specifically for use in the backcountry. Other activities include backcountry guided tours and ATV off-roading, officials note.
