STC awarded for Cessna 441 with 5-blade MT-Propeller

By General Aviation News Staff · March 12, 2021 ·

MT-Propeller has received an STC from the FAA for its Quiet Fan Jet composite 5-blade propeller on the Cessna 441 powered by Honeywell TPE-331-8 propeller turbines.

The STC also covers other TPE-331 engines installed through approved STCs that do not exceed 635.5 shp and 2000 rpm.

According to MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht, the installation feature several advantages, including:

  • Bonded on wide chord nickel alloy leading edges for erosion protection of the blades
  • Smaller diameter compared to the original propeller, which means more ground clearance for less FOD and also more clearance to the fuselage, leading to less cabin noise from the prop tips
  • Takeoff improvement up to 15%
  • TBO 4,500 hours or six years, whatever comes first
  • No intermediate inspections are needed between the TBO that require propeller removal
  • No rpm restriction for the complete operational range.

MT-Propeller holds more than 220 STCs worldwide and is an OEM supplier for more than 90% of the European aircraft industry, as well as 30% of the US aircraft industry. More than 25,000 propeller systems with more than 85,000 blades are in service.
