500 and counting…

By General Aviation News Staff · April 6, 2021 ·

SOUTH SAINT PAUL, Minnesota — Wipaire delivered its 500th set of 2100A floats in March 2021. They were installed on an Aviat A-1C-180 Husky.

“The Wipline 2100A is the best-selling float in its class. This milestone delivery reflects the durability and reliability of the design and construction. Since the first set was certified in 1997, this model of amphibious float has remained number one choice for owners of smaller aircraft,” said Chuck Wiplinger, President and CEO of Wipaire. “We want to thank our employees for reaching this historic delivery and all the customers who trust us with their aircraft.”

The Wipline 2100As are available as amphibious or seaplane and feature:

  • High bow buoyance and higher deadrise angle on forward bottoms for improved handling in wind and choppy water,
  • Flat, non-skid coated top decks,
  • Two large float hatches, each with 50 pounds carrying capacity,
  • Aluminum skins and parts are laser cut with pre-punched rivet holes, making repairs easy, company officials note.

For over 60 years, Wipaire has been engineering and manufacturing a full line of aircraft floats for all sizes of aircraft from the Aviat Husky to the Viking Twin Otter, including most single-engine Cessna aircraft. Additionally, Wipaire has engineered more than 100 Supplemental Type Certificated modifications. Wipaire offers maintenance, avionics installation and repair, custom interior design and installation, and exterior paint refinishing.
