Accident Case Study: Faulty assumptions

By General Aviation News Staff · May 1, 2021 ·

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s Air Safety Institute has released a new video in its Accident Case Study series.

“In the early morning light on April 22, 2019, the pilot of a Beechcraft Baron 58 preflights his aircraft at West Houston Airport in Texas before he heads to the terminal to greet his five passengers. The flight will take just over one hour. But the pilot’s mistaken beliefs about existing onboard fuel will prove disastrous,” officials say in the introduction to the almost 10-minute video.

As is often the case, there’s a lesson to be learned. Piling on the dead guy unnecessary.

You find out what someone’s true comprehension level is when situations reach critical mass.
And despite all the efforts, it’s usually not comprehending an age old simplistic requirement telling the tale and dictating the results.
