Women in Aviation International’s Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, based at Wyoming Valley Airport (KWBW) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, recently held a barbecue to raise funds for scholarships, chapter events and education activities. More than 150 people attended the fundraising event at KWBW, according to Molly Van Scoy, chapter president.
“We also received a $25,000 donation from the Baum Group on top of other very generous donations from various attendees,” she said. “We are so grateful and cannot wait to create scholarships and hold future events with our new funds.”

The Baum Group provides communications and corporate development consulting. It also supports philanthropic opportunities in the local area and aerospace efforts for future generations, according to officials.
The chapter’s 26 members include student pilots, private pilots, instructors, commercial pilots, airline pilots, and aviation enthusiasts from ages 14 to 60.
“Our mission is to encourage, empower, and educate the next generation of aviators,” she added.
Fantastic! IF ONLY other states would do the same for our girls and women, if only….
Congratulations and thanks for setting a fine example to show us how it’s done.
