The Colorado Pilots Association is accepting applications through Aug. 1, 2021, for the new Emily Howell Warner Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship will go to a Colorado woman for an advanced pilot rating, such as an Instrument rating, Commercial Certificate, or Multi Engine Rating.

The scholarship, funded primarily from donations from individual members and revenues derived from the association’s Mountain Flying Ground School, is in honor of Warner, America’s first female airline captain and a founding member of the Colorado Pilots Association. Warner passed away July 3, 2020, at the age of 80.
The application is available on the CPA website. A letter of recommendation from a flight school, including a statement of enrollment in a formal course leading to the appropriate certificate, is required.
Scholarship funds will be disbursed to the scholarship winner’s account at the flight school of her choice. No funds will be issued to any individual. Funds may be issued in increments as requested by the winner, or may be transferred to another FAR Part 61/141 Colorado flight school as necessary.
The scholarship committee will award the scholarship upon review of the application, letters of recommendation, and a telephone interview with the applicant. Emphasis will be given to applicants who intend to flight instruct for at least one year.
