Picture of the Day: Lift-off from Harper International Airport

By General Aviation News Staff · September 22, 2021 ·

Robert “Bob” Bement submitted this photo and note: “I sometimes fly out to visit a friend who runs the Harper Junction Service Station. There is no airport, so I just land on the road. It is fairly level, but has a little dog leg in it. A fellow at the station took this picture of me in my 1959 straight-tailed 182 Cessna taking off from road. I thought he did a great job of getting this lift-off picture.”

Bob explains the Harper Junction Service Station is on Highway 20 that goes from the Idaho-Oregon border to Bend, Oregon. “It is about 20 miles from the little town of Vale on that same Highway 20,” he adds.

Sorry I need to read what I write. Yes it is a 1959 Cessna 182 B. model. A great airplane that I have flown now for 29 years, and 2700+ hours.. I love this old Cessna. I am 86 and hope to fly a few more years.
