Are Service Bulletins mandatory?

Aircraft owners may wonder whether Service Bulletins are mandatory. A new video from the FAA in its 57 Seconds video series answers that question. The bottom line, according to FAA officials: You should never ignore them. It could be a matter of life and death.

    Having worked for a Baltimore-based Cessna dealer ftom 1972 to 1981, we habitually complied with all Cessna Service Bulletins as we received them. In many cases, the SB was later issued as an AD, which we then had previously complied with.
