Reno race champion Pete Zaccagnino has released his second novel, “The New Cold War: Defending Democracy From Russia’s Secret Tech Weapon.”
The spy thriller is the second book in Zaccagnino’s “Relevant” series.
According to Zaccagnino, the United States and Russia have had a complex — and frequently adversarial — relationship for more than a century.
The new book asks readers a difficult question, he continued.

“What if Russia were able to complete an advanced quantum computer before the United States? And if a weapon this powerful were wielded by such a formidable foe, how could that potentially impact freedom and democracy?
“I wrote ‘The New Cold War: Defending Democracy From Russia’s Secret Tech Weapon’ because it has been several decades since the conclusion of the Cold War and some have started to dismiss the very real threat posed by Russia,” Zaccagnino said. “I seek to inform my fellow Americans about the risks of non-traditional battlegrounds, like the technological front, that the Russians may seize upon. But I wanted to do so in the enjoyable way that writing what could be termed as ‘fiction’ provides, since I was floored by the tremendous response to Relevant: A Military Thriller Inspired By True Events.”
The new novel centers on protagonist Chris Hodge and his team’s efforts to clandestinely travel to Moscow and subvert the Russians’ advanced quantum computer without leaving any telltale signs. If their mission is successful, the free world has time to consider its next move against Russian aggression. If the mission fails, our entire way of life has the potential of dissolving at the whims of Russia’s autocratic leadership, Zaccagnino says.
“With the stakes this high, failure is not an option,” he adds.
The book is available as a paperback for $16.95 and an eBook on Amazon.
