By General Aviation News Staff · December 8, 2021 ·

MT-Propeller has received an FAA STC for its scimitar four-blade composite propeller on the Aerostar PA-60-600, -601, -601P, -602P, and PA-60-700P powered by Lycoming IO-540-A, IO-540-S, and TIO-540-U engines.

According to MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht, advantages of the new prop include:

  • Shorter takeoff distance
  • Enhanced climb by approximately 3% to 5%
  • Cruise performance increased by approximately 3 to 5 knots
  • A weight savings of approximately 40 pounds over the original propeller
  • No airframe resonance with low engine RPM.
