The Basic Aerobatic Manual updated

By General Aviation News Staff · February 2, 2022 ·

Aviation Supplies & Academics has released the third edition of “The Basic Aerobatic Manual” by Bill Kershner.

Written by legendary flight instructor Bill Kershner, The Basic Aerobatic Manual has been updated by his son, William K. Kershner, also an experienced pilot and flight instructor.

The third edition includes a new chapter on loss of control in-flight (LOC-I), the leading cause of fatal general aviation accidents, to complement a chapter on unusual attitudes (upset) recovery for pilots especially focused on flight safety. Returning to controlled flight solely by reference to instruments also is examined closely. The chapter on spins and spin recovery has also been updated, benefiting from the knowledge gained in more than 7,000 spins, each having from 3 to 25 turns, in the Cessna Aerobat.

While the book emphasizes techniques for the Cessna Aerobat, the described maneuvers easily translate to other aerobatics-certified airplanes, ASA officials noted.

Price: $19.95. The book is available in both softcover and as an eBook.
