Competition for workers fierce in the aviation industry

By General Aviation News Staff · March 9, 2022 ·

A recruiter talks to a potential job applicant at a Career Fair.

“Everyone’s hiring” in the aviation industry.

That’s the headline of a recent press release from JSfirm.com, an aviation job website that also hosts Career Fairs at airshows around the country, such as this week’s Heli-EXPO for Helicopter Association International, the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, and EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.

Officials with the job site report a record number of jobs have been posted in 2022.

“Companies are scrambling and competing with each other to attract and retain qualified candidates,” said JSfirm.com Executive Director Abbey Hutter. “The current job market is candidate driven and they have plenty of job opportunities in front of them.”

She reports a 30% increase in job postings compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The most in-demand positions remain pilots, A&P/IAs, sheet metal technicians, avionics, engineering, flight instructors, dispatchers, line service, managers and sales/business development positions.

“Aviation companies are constantly reaching out to our team and exploring different avenues on our website to gain more exposure and get their jobs in front of the best candidates,” she adds. “Competition between companies is fierce and showing no signs of slowing down.”
