AOPA fly-ins slated for Washington, Florida, and Texas

By General Aviation News Staff · April 2, 2022 ·

The AOPA Showcase in 2021.

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association will host two fly-ins — or Hangouts as officials are calling them — in 2022, as well as an Aviator Showcase.

The Hangouts will be Sept. 9-10 at Felts Field Airport (KSFF) in Spokane, Washington, and Nov. 4-5 at Tampa Executive Airport (KVDF) in Tampa, Florida. The Aviator Showcase will be June 16-17 at Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW) in Texas.

The two hangouts will offer a “mix of fun, food, learning, and a chance to renew old friendships and forge new ones,” according to AOPA officials.

During these two-day informal events, attendees can pitch a tent, participate in educational seminars, stroll through aircraft displays and other vendors exhibits, and enjoy friendly camaraderie around a campfire.

Each hangout will also feature a STOL competition.

The Aviator Showcase is a bit different, with AOPA officials describing it as an “exclusive gathering with industry-leading experts in avionics and cockpit technology, flight planning and weather resources, and aircraft manufacturing and sales.”

The showcase will feature an exhibit hall, aircraft display, and educational seminars presented by event sponsors. For pilots looking to upgrade or still searching for the perfect aircraft, local services such as paint shops, avionics manufacturers, and aircraft detailers will be on hand to help. Attendees can also talk to aviation finance professionals, insurers, and dealers about purchasing an aircraft.

Cost to attend any of the events is $20 for AOPA members and $30 for non-members, which includes admission for both days.
