Time Between Replacement (TBR) for the Continental CD-300 has been extended to 2,000 hours.
The 300-hp Jet-A piston engine was introduced in 2019 with an initial TBR of 1,200 hours or 12 years, company officials said, adding there was always “a commitment to increase the TBR hours.”
Along with the TBR extension, Continental officials noted that its engineers examined additional ways to increase the value of the engine, which burns 9.2 gallons per hour in an economy cruise setting.
After a review of the engine components, the gearbox replacement will also change from being replaced every 600 hours to “on condition,” they reported.
The fleet of CD-300 engines have accumulated more than 9 million flight hours since the engine was first introduced, Continental officials add.
I cannot believe that 9 million flight hours have accumulated for the CD300. Surely it is a typographical error.
How did they get 9 million flight hours on the CD300? What aircraft other than the Diamond DA50 uses the CD300?
