Scholarship season opens for NGPA

By General Aviation News Staff · June 8, 2022 ·

NGPA, an international organization of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) aviation professionals and enthusiasts, is now accepting applications for more than $300,000 in scholarships.

That is double the amount of scholarship money awarded in 2021, according to officials, who note the organization has given $1.2 million in scholarships since 1998.

A variety of scholarships are available for all levels of flight training and other aviation-related higher educational training.

Industry partners offering scholarships through NGPA in 2022 include: Alaska Air Group, American Airlines, American Flight Schools, Coradine, Delta Air Lines, Envoy, Epic Flight Academy, FedEx, Flex Air, Netflix, Piedmont, PSA, Republic Airways, Solairus Aviation, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.

NGPA officials note that a new partnership with United Airlines will provide more than $200,000 in scholarships to students of the United Airlines AVIATE Academy.

NGPA scholarships are awarded regardless of an individual’s gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation, but all applicants are asked to provide evidence of their contributions to the LGBTQ community. All applicants must be members of the organization. Membership can be purchased or renewed at NGPA.org.

Deadline to apply is July 31, 2022.
