LightHawk names new director of conservation

By General Aviation News Staff · July 13, 2022 ·

LightHawk has hired Diego L. Gil-Agudelo as its new Director of Conservation.

A conservation biologist for more than two decades, Diego started as a coral reef ecologist. In 2010, after the Deep-Water Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, Diego developed a program to minimize the impacts of offshore oil and gas exploration.

Most recently, Diego has worked as the Director of Research Operations at Texas A&M University at Galveston.

Lighthawk is a non-profit organization that has a network of 300 volunteer general aviation pilots who donate their time and airplanes to fly researchers, policy makers, elected officials, and others on conservation and environmental missions.
